Problem: Globally, one in four people over the age of 25 will experience a stroke in their lifetime. In Australia alone, approximately 56,000 people suffer a stroke each year - more than 100 strokes every day. Of these, about two-thirds survive but are left with life-altering disabilities. It is crucial for stroke survivors to begin their rehabilitation as soon as they leave acute care. However, patients typically face a wait time of up to one week before their first rehabilitation session, which is a significant delay. The longer the wait, the more brain neurons die, making rehabilitation and the return to normal life more challenging.

Additionally, overcrowded rehabilitation and physiotherapy centres, coupled with a shortage of specialists, meaning that patients often receive only a few physiotherapy sessions per month. This lack of consistent care can severely impact the quality of rehabilitation, leading to long-term complications that are harder to overcome.

Solution: NeuroPhyte is a cutting-edge neuro-rehabilitation platform designed to assist stroke and traumatic brain injury (TBI) survivors in practising their rehabilitation anytime, anywhere. The system features a smart glove embedded with highly accurate sensors that monitor a patient's movements, as well as vital metrics such as heart rate and stress levels.

Patients perform a series of virtual reality tasks while wearing the glove, and the collected data is analysed by advanced machine learning algorithms. These algorithms assess the patient's performance and provide insights and recommendations to their doctors regarding the next task or stage of rehabilitation.

NeuroPhyte offers flexibility by allowing patients to continue their rehabilitation at home, reducing dependence on in-person physiotherapy sessions and rehabilitation centres. This significantly lowers the cost of rehabilitation while also providing valuable support to doctors, physiotherapists, and rehabilitation specialists.
